How do I captivate my audience?
The answer is multifaceted. Let’s start with your gaze. When someone is speaking to you, is she looking you in the eyes often? If she doesn’t very much, does your attention fade?
The fact is, eye contact one of the most effective ways of making a connection. Make the following a habit:
- Hold someone’s gaze for at least as long as they do yours
- When introducing yourself, look them in the eyes the whole time
- When connecting virtually, look into the lens, not the other person’s image
- When virtual, hide your own image
