We’ve all felt it: increasing heart rate, butterflies in our stomachs, shaky hands, racing and negative thoughts. Sometimes we even lose our place in the message and trip over our words.

What can you do to combat this?

So many things! Firstly: BREATHE DEEPLY. Focusing on your breath will slow down your heartrate and calm your mind. Try this now: think of something coming up that makes you nervous. Now close your eyes and breathe deeply and slowly 5 times. What do you notice about your mindset?

Secondly, replace negative self talk with positive thoughts. Instead of “oh no, I’m so nervous,” try “I’ve got this” or “I’m going to do great.” Smile as you say it. The power of suggestion will help you believe that you are going to do great!
