Hello Friends!

What do you do when you’ve prepared well, visualized success, and taken deep breaths, yet you are STILL feeling nervous? Feel frustrated?  Remember, anxiety is just excess energy with the presumption of a less than ideal outcome.  USE the energy.  Here are some additional tools to help you in the moment and to adjust your mindset:

During the Presentation:

  • Love your name by saying it slowly with warmth; introduce yourself with enthusiasm and a smile.
  • Focus on your message.  Dig into how important it is to communicate it to others-lean into that need.
  • Humanize your audience; look at their faces!
  • Stretch out your fingers or press your feet into the floor to connect your mind to your body.

Mindset:

  • Consider your worth beyond this presentation.
  • Lead with rational probability vs irrational fear–how many times have you successfully done this?  Do you know your material? How many times have you succeeded?  Have you every truly failed at this? (more on this next time)
  • Believe that they want you to succeed-it serves them for you to believe in yourself!

Take a look at this video of Alain de Botton, a British philosopher:
