Have your been taking the time to breathe and replacing your negative self talk with positive talk?  Great job!  As someone who used to suffer from performance anxiety, I know this isn’t enough sometimes.  Here are some more tools to help you succeed:

  • Focus on the importance of communicating your message. When we focus on ourselves, we lose sight of our message.  This self focus only makes us worry more.  Instead of turning inward, turn outwards.  Why are you communicating your message? How important is it that your audience understands you? Can you connect with them and change their thinking with your words?  Yes, you can!  But only if you get your focus off of yourself.
  • Smile and imagine success.  When we project success; envision how is feels and looks like, we prepare our minds for that reality.  Close your eyes and see yourself succeeding, speaking clearly and slowly, connecting to your words.  Feel it?  See it?  Good!  Now do it!
